Bonus Content Studio for HaremLit Authors: Polls, Wallpapers, Comics, and the One Rule That Surprises People
September 6, 2026
If you write in this genre, you already have a folder full of things readers would love and have never seen. The scene you cut because the pacing said so. The wallpaper the cover artist sent you as a bonus. The alternate opening. The poll you keep running in Discord about who gets the next novella.
Harem-Lit.com built a place for that folder. The Bonus Content Studio is live for authors, it’s free on both sides, and it’s genuinely well thought through, including one rule that catches people off guard the first time. Let’s go through it like friends would.
What you can publish
The Studio, under Authors → Bonus Content, walks you from draft to preview to publish. You pick a format first (text, single image, gallery, comic, audio, or mixed) and it shows only the fields and upload tools that apply. The content types cover bonus scenes, deleted scenes, sample chapters, behind-the-scenes posts, announcements, and more.
The HaremLit-flavored features are the ones I’d start with:
- Wallpapers as follower freebies. Post a wallpaper and tick the option to offer the original file. Followers get the full-resolution download. Readers collect these.
- One fan poll per post. Single choice, attached to the post. Ask which love interest gets a side story, which setting the next series opens in, which title wins. It’s the Discord poll, except everyone who follows you sees it.
- Page-by-page comics. Upload finished pages and readers see them top to bottom in order, or build the pages on the site: the new Author Studio composer gives you panel templates, speech-bubble lettering you edit in place, layers, image masks, and snapping, and exports each page as a full-resolution PNG.
- Deleted scenes, attached to the book they came from. Readers open them in context.
Who can publish: authors with a claimed, approved profile, and narrators or other creators with an approved public Industry Professional profile. If the person who voiced your audiobook wants to post outtakes, they can, under their own name.
The rule that surprises people
Here it is: everything in Bonus Content must be safe for work. Zero tolerance. No NSFW text, images, audio, files, or links to any of it. You confirm this with an attestation before you can submit, uploaded files stay in private review until an automated safety screen clears them, and an NSFW upload can mean a permanent ban.
I know. It’s a HaremLit site. But think about where this content lives — a public, searchable extras shelf that readers browse openly, with wallpapers and polls and comics side by side. The heat belongs in the books, where readers chose it. The extras shelf is where the wallpaper of her in full armor goes, not the other wallpaper. Once you frame it that way, most authors find the line easy to keep.
The other rules, quickly
Rights you control. You attest that you own or control the rights to everything you upload. Automation can flag a risk but can’t prove ownership; the attestation is yours. Commissioned art with a personal-use-only license, audio you don’t hold the rights to, fan art you didn’t clear: leave it out.
KDP Select: read this one twice. Select requires an enrolled ebook’s digital content to stay exclusive to Kindle, and the platform’s guidance is direct: don’t repost enrolled content here. Sample chapters are a supported format where your contract allows, and for an enrolled title the safe assumption is that it doesn’t. ACX audio has its own exclusivity; use only audio you control or an Audible promotional excerpt within Audible’s license. And note the careful distinction the platform draws: a retailer or Patreon link pointing readers onward is fine, because linking is not redistributing. Current contract terms control, and this is not legal advice, theirs or mine.
Approval. Every submission passes an automated SFW and policy screen. Trust Tier 2 skips human preapproval but not the automated review; lower-trust creators also wait for admin approval. The automated reviewer can send a post back to draft and note repeat flags, but it cannot suspend or ban anyone. That’s always a human, on the record.
Published versions are permanent: revise and you publish a new numbered version, never a silent edit.
Why free is the whole point
Some authors will ask why they’d post free extras instead of putting them in a paid tier. Because of what the follow does. Following you is the only way to open a post (the platform forbids Patreon, purchases, or codes as gates), so every reader who wants your extras has to follow you, and every follow is a real person who opted in. They get one in-app alert per weekly release from you, which they can switch off, so you’re never spamming anyone. Unfollow, and the post relocks.
You are not selling a deleted scene. You’re turning interest into an audience that’s actually yours, with zero friction for the reader.
A first month that works:
- A wallpaper with the original file offered as a freebie.
- A deleted scene, attached to the book it came from.
- A poll about the next book, and then actually honor the result.
- Look at what gets read and downloaded, and post more of that.
The Studio is waiting at harem-lit.com/authors/bonus-content. Your readers already want what’s in that folder. Go give it to them.
Common questions
- What can HaremLit authors post as Bonus Content?
- Deleted and bonus scenes, sample chapters where your contract allows, downloadable wallpapers and art, image galleries, page-by-page comics, audio outtakes, announcements, and one single-choice fan poll per post. Downloadable files can be offered as follower freebies.
- Does Bonus Content have to be safe for work on Harem-Lit?
- Yes — zero tolerance. No NSFW text, images, audio, files, or links. You attest to this before publishing, uploads are screened automatically, and an NSFW upload may result in a permanent ban. The heat stays in the books; the extras shelf is public.
- Can I post chapters from a book enrolled in KDP Select?
- The platform's guidance is no: KDP Select requires enrolled digital content to stay exclusive to Kindle. You can link to the retailer, since linking isn't redistribution. The platform is explicit that this is a summary and not legal advice.
- Who can use the Bonus Content Studio?
- Authors with a claimed, approved profile, and narrators or other creators with an approved public Industry Professional profile. The Studio lives under Authors → Bonus Content.
- Can readers pay to unlock my posts?
- No. Following is the only way to open a post, and the platform forbids using Patreon, purchases, or codes as a gate. It's a free follower benefit that turns interest into a durable audience.
