Make Your Own Wallpapers, Patreon Headers, and Comics: Author Studio Is Live on Harem-Lit
September 12, 2026
Here’s a thing every author in this genre has done at midnight: opened a free design site, spent forty minutes fighting a Patreon header that keeps exporting at the wrong size, and given up with a screenshot. Harem-Lit.com just made that night unnecessary.
Author Studio is live. It’s a proper design tool that runs in your browser, built for the graphics this community actually makes: comics, wallpapers, Patreon headers, social art, game cards. Let me walk you through it the way I’d show a friend.
Start with what you’re making
Open the Studio and it asks one question: what are you making? Comic, Ebook cover, Social ad, Patreon, Game card, or Custom. Pick one and you get a canvas at the right proportions before you’ve placed a single image. That choice just sets a good starting size; it doesn’t drop you into a different editor.
The project opens in your private library. No public URL, no follower gate, no approval queue. You can reopen it any time, and it saves to your account as you work. If another copy of the project changed first, the editor stops and asks you to reload instead of quietly overwriting your work. Small thing, and exactly right.
What’s on the canvas
This is the part that surprised me, because “comic maker” usually means “drop images in boxes.” This is more than that.
- Panels. Start from a panel template or a freeform page. Reframe artwork inside a panel without changing the source file. Split panels, change frame shapes, add and reorder pages.
- Lettering that behaves. Speech and caption balloons with tails you can drag. Double-click a bubble and type straight into it. Pick from a searchable typeface list that previews each face.
- Free images, text, and shapes. Drag an image from your palette onto empty canvas and it becomes its own object you can move, resize, rotate, lock, and layer.
- Layers. One list of everything on the page, front to back. Rename, hide, lock, and reorder by drag or by keyboard.
- Snapping and alignment. Objects snap to page edges, center lines, and each other. Multi-select, group, align, distribute.
- Masks. Cut an image to one of seven preset shapes, or to the outline of any closed shape you’ve drawn.
Upload JPG, PNG, or WebP. Everything goes through the same private, checked upload path Bonus Content uses.
Free versus Supporter, honestly
Harem-Lit splits the Studio in two, and I’d rather you know the line before you start.
Free inside Bonus Content: uploads and hosting, the comic-page canvases, and a full-resolution PNG export that carries a small Harem-Lit credit band.
With Author Site Supporter: destination templates (the exact-size Patreon header, social post, story, link preview, and tier-art canvases), custom resolution, advanced shape tools, and clean unbranded exports.
So a comic page is free to make and free to download, credit band included. The Patreon-header-at-exactly-the-right-size workflow is the Supporter half. That’s a fair split, and it’s stated on the page rather than discovered at export.
Two studios, one composer
Author Studio and Bonus Content Studio share the same visual composer, which is why they feel identical, but they do different jobs. Author Studio makes private artwork you download and use elsewhere: Patreon, ads, your own files. Bonus Content Studio publishes free extras for your followers through the review workflow. If the result belongs off-site, start in Author Studio. If it should become a follower reward, start in Bonus Content.
Studio projects don’t count against your Bonus Content post allowance. Their uploaded files do use the shared creator media allowance, which each workspace shows you.
Who can use it
Authors with a claimed profile, and narrators or other creators with an approved Industry Professional profile. The person who voiced your audiobook can build their own graphics under their own name.
A good first evening
- Start a Patreon project. Drop in your cover art, add your series name as a text object, export.
- Start a Comic project with two or three pieces of character art. Add a panel template, letter one exchange between two love interests, and see how the balloons feel.
- Export the project file, close the tab, reopen it. Everything comes back. Now you trust it.
Then, if you want that comic to reach readers, take it to Bonus Content as a free follower extra. Your wallpapers and polls already live there; comics belong beside them.
Why this matters here
Our genre runs on visual identity: the covers readers recognize across a series, the character art they collect, the Patreon tiers with actual artwork on them. Until now the tools for all that lived somewhere else and charged for the privilege of getting the size right. Author Studio puts them inside the community, with a fair free tier and an honest paid one.
It’s waiting at harem-lit.com/authors/studio. Go make the header.
Common questions
- What is Author Studio on Harem-Lit?
- A browser design tool for authors and approved narrators. It builds comic pages and graphics from your own uploaded art, with panel templates, speech-bubble lettering, text, shapes, layers, image masks, and snapping, and exports a full-resolution PNG. Projects are private to your account and never published to readers.
- What can I start from?
- Comic, Ebook cover, Social ad, Patreon, Game card, or Custom. The choice sets a sensible first canvas size; it doesn't lock you into a different editor.
- What's free and what needs Author Site Supporter?

- They share one visual composer but do different jobs. Author Studio makes private artwork you download and use anywhere. Bonus Content Studio publishes free extras for your Harem-Lit followers through the review workflow.
